James Smith

Mr. James Smith  was born on July 27, 1938 to Albert and Annie M. Smith. He was an only child to this union. James confessed Christ at an early age. He attended new Hope Baptist Church in West End. He later joined Zion Star Missionary Baptist Church where he was a member of the Male Chorus. At the time of his death, he was a faithful member of Overcometh Holiness Church.

James grew up in Birmingham, Alabama and was educated in the Birmingham School System. He had a passion for fishing, hunting and cooking.

James made his transition on July 12, 2019. He was preceded in death by his loving mother, Annie M. Smith, and father, Albert Smith.

Loving memories of James will be cherished by his wife, Jerry Smith; eight daughters, Leatrice Varner, Susan (Johnny) Dickson, Kimberly (Wesley) Henry, Djuana Smith, Charlene Smith, Marlene Smith, and Desiree Smith, all of Birmingham, Alabama; three sons, Willie James (Renee) Smiley, Eric (Nadean) Smiley, and Ricky Grant; grandchildren, McKinley Lassiter, III, Joseph (Eric) Griffin, Johnny Dickson, Jr., Durrell Smith, Nelson Henry, Joshua Henry, Jonathan Smith, Erica Smiley, Sheena Smiley, Whitney Smiley, Amir O’Neal, Willie James Smiley II, Reshundra Smiley, Joshua Smiley, Carlos Smiley, and Adriana Moni`que; a host of great grandchildren, cousins, other loving relatives and friends.
