Leroy Boykin

Leroy Boykin formerly of Glen Rock , New Jersey passed away on September 2nd, 2018. He was born in Birmingham, Alabama on June 25th, 1934, the youngest of fourteen children born to Mattie and Dick Boykin.

He received Christ and was baptized at Mt. Park Baptist Church,Hudson City Alabama. He attended Parker High School in Birmingham, Alabama before enlisting in the United States Air Force. After proudly serving his country and being honorably discharged , he was gainfully employed in a variety of jobs before becoming a tractor trailer driver for NuCar Carrier Trucking company from which he retired after twenty-nine years of prideful service.

He met Fannie Mae Booker whom he married in nineteen fifty-nine . He like nothing more that an arousing conversation and thrived on the exchange of interesting, provocative dialogue. He was an avid sports fan especially baseball and the New York Mets.

Memories will forever be in the hearts of his wife of 59 years, Fannie Mae, his two brothers’ Dewayne (Mary) and Clarence, one  sister, Georgia Ann Payne, son Charles Julius(Chrystal), daughter Shirley (ex son in law, Jared), granddaughters, Sherry(Keith), Crystal, Kimberly and Rachel. Grandson Kerry, Great grandson’s Keith, Kenny, Marcus. Three great granddaughters, and a host of Grand nieces and nephews.
