Mary Earlene Lett Miller was known affectionately by many as “Mama Lene”. She was born to the late Mr. J.B Lett and Mrs. Mattie Lee Lett and on June 30, 1937 in Westfield, AL. She was the oldest of eight siblings. Both her parents, 2 siblings: Sonja J. Lett and Leon Lett and a granddaughter, Ashley Nicole Williams preceded her in death.
Earlene confessed her life to Christ at an early age and became a member of the Galilee Baptist Church in Fairfield, where she remained until her death. She was educated at the Monroe County Training School in Beatrice, Alabama. She lived and worked in many different states during her lifetime. She was a hard worker, and known for her Holiday and Sunday cooking which often brought the family out for good times. She loved sewing quilts, helping children, reading and listening to music.
Her memories will be cherished by her 3 children:, 2 daughters Wanda Denise Lett, Los Angeles, CA, Joyce (Nathaniel ) Rutledge, Irondale, AL and one son; Ernest Williams. Jr, Birmingham, AL. She also has 4 grandchildren: Erica Alexandria Rutledge, Da’rrell Dauane Williams, Lauren Jonay Rutledge, and Nathaniel Rutledge, III. She leaves one sister: Mattie Inez Lett and 4 brothers: Thomas James (Diane) Lett, Aaron Lett Johnny B. (Annie Jean) Lett, and Robert Allen. Lett, Sr. and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, devoted friends and extended family that will miss her bright smile, quiet laughter, and long talks.
