Otis Dwayne Owens

Otis Dwayne Owens was born September 23, 1962 to the late Reverend Robert Owens, Jr. and Rosa Mae Owens of Graysville, Alabama.  He confessed Christ at an early age and began his leadership under Pastor Oscar L. Huntley at New Canaan Baptist Church.

Otis was educated in the Jefferson County School System, graduating from Minor High School, Class of 1981.  After graduation, he enlisted in one of the largest branches of the United States Armed Forces, the Army.

Otis was called home by the angels on July 14, 2018 at 7:45 a.m. at St. Vincent’s East Medical Center, I.C.U. Unite, surrounded by family and friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Rosa; and his two sisters, Earline and Rochelle.

Mr. Otis Owens’ memory will be cherished by his three devoted and wonderful sons, Otis Doss, Odell (Lanesha) Doss, and Robert Doss, all of Bessemer, Alabama; five grandchildren, Nashaylynn, Miley, Nabian, Madalynn, Noah and Na’Brandon; two brothers, Robert Owens, Jr. and Raymond Owens; an aunt, Eula Mae Oliver; a special cousin, Kim Williams; and good friend, Mr. Larry.
