Rose Mary Blackmon was born April 13, 1953, in Fairfield, AL, to the late Robert Benjamin and Doris Woods Wells. She was the 5th child of nine children.
She was educated in the public school system. She went to Princeton Elementary and West End High School. She also attended Miles and Lawson State Community College. Rose possessed the singing voice of an angel, her love for the Lord shined through with every note that she would sing. She started singing at First Baptist West Princeton, and later she joined The Echoes of Faith of Birmingham, AL. She also sang at Word of Life Christian Center, Cathedral of The Cross, and the praise team for Rebirth Christian Fellowship.
In her early years Rose was employed at Bell South as an operator. She then became a talented seamstress, at Southern Bride, Pageant Place, and later at Prom and Pageant Place for several years.
She went to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 30, 2019. She was proceeded in death by her three brothers, Donald R. Wells (Barbara), Kenneth L. Wells, and Henry C. Wells. She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, Curtis G. Blackmon; three children Cameron R. Blackmon (Erica), Shakierah G. Blackmon, and Anlya E. Reid; five surviving siblings Robert B. Wells Jr. (Phillis), Phyllis G. Wells, Phillip D. Wells, Harold S. Wells (Patricia), and Clinton A. Wells; six grandchildren Tarique Ellis, Cameron Blackmon, Sharon Giddens, Tramell Giddens, Ocean Blackmon, and Landon Blackmon; special nephews Carlus Wells (Patricia), Nathan Wells (Shavonne), Sweven Wells and niece Doniquka Wells; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and loving friends
Rose’s infectious smile, her love for the Lord and her compassionate spirit, and her flare for design will truly be missed.
