Obituary

Angela Denise Armstead, fondly known as “Anne,” “Angelina,” or “Angie,” was born on January 26, 1964 to the late Abel and Helen Armstead in Detroit, MI. The youngest of four, she was highly regarded as the baby, and protected as such. Her siblings, Abel Jr., Cheryl, and Esther, all who preceded her in death, would often marvel at her care-free demeanor and infectious smile.

While in her presence, you could not help but feel the warmth generating from her enormously, loving heart. Upon leaving or ending a phone conversation, there was always an “I love you”! or “I love you more”! Anne was quick to make a friend and never without one. For her family she was always easy to talk to, always willing to listen, and was the glue that held them tightly together. If ever in need of encouragement, compassion, uncompromising truth, or a just a big hug she would not hesitate to give. Beautiful inside and out, she touched everyone she encountered. To know her was to love her.

She loved to read, enjoyed crossword puzzles, was delighted in a good card game of Spades, watching scary movies, and sampling delicious food. But music was one of Angela’s favorite indulgences, and her tastes ran the gamut. From jazz to rhythm and blues, and every genre in between, her all-time favorite song was, “Ribbon in the Sky” by Stevie Wonder.

After 30 years, Anne reconnected with the love of her life, Mr. Sheldon Jones, and moved to Birmingham, Alabama in May 2021. She transitioned peacefully with Sheldon by her side, loving and knowing that she was loved by many, and especially loved by her devoted niece LaShauna. Angela gained her heavenly freedom on Wednesday, February 2, 2022, and will eternally remain in the hearts of her family, a multitude of friends, and former co-workers.

Left to cherish wonderful memories, her beloved Sheldon Jones; son, Dwayne M. Jenkins; nieces, LaShauna, Lisa, and Leslie; nephew, Kevin (Kimberly), her younger nephew, Michael preceded her in death; great-nieces, Kamira, and Zharia; great-nephew, Kevin Jr.; and an abundance of cousins and friends in Detroit, MI and around the United States.

Her loved ones wish to acknowledge with deep appreciation the many expressions of kindness and concern evidenced in thought and deed to Angela throughout her journey in life and at this time.
