Carolyn Faye (Groce) Hayes

Carolyn Faye (Groce) Hayes entered this world June 29, 1946. Born to Mabel (Hunter) Munden and Herman Smith of Gadsden, Alabama. She was the second of seven children and affectionately known as Charlie.

On June 11, 2022, GOD lovingly wrap his arms around her and took her to a peaceful place as she was surrounded by her daughters, grandson, granddaughter and sons-in-law.

She received Christ at an early age under the leadership of Reverend Elijah Jarrett at Galilee Baptist Church, Gadsden, Alabama.

She was a graduate of Carver High School, Class of 1965, Gadsden, Alabama. She received her A.A.S degree in Commercial Sewing and Tailoring at Gadsden State Technical College in Gadsden, Alabama. She had the natural born talent to design and tailor clothes and was very passionate about her trade.

Early in her life she married her high school sweetheart, Curtis Isom, that union created two beautiful daughters (Tonya Cassandra & LeQuinta Faye) that she loved more than life itself. After this chapter in her life was complete, she was always a devoted mother to her daughters and nurturing them was her main focus. Later she met the second love of her life, Isaiah "Ditty" Hayes Ill, to whom she was married to till his death in 2010.

Carolyn and Ditty worked numerous years with The City of Attalla School System. She always helped people and was very involved in her community.

Carolyn was proceeded in death by her son; Curtis Sebastin Isom, daughter; Myra Letitia Isom, parents; Mabel (Hunter) Munden and Herman Smith. Her husband; Isaiah" Ditty" Hayes Ill. Siblings; Annie L. Groce Morgan and Bobby Hollis. Half-Siblings; Alice Smith, Annie 'Sand” Montgomery, Elizabeth Cash, Herman Hoover Smith, Rev. Willis Burton, and Wallace Burton.

She leaves to cherish her loving memories — Daughters: Tonya (Larry) Brown of Adamsville, AL; LeQuinta (Curtis) Crumpler of Gadsden, AL; Grandson: Staff Sergeant Kurt ‘Dez Isom, USAF Joint-Base Lewis McCord, WA; Granddaughter: Catera L. Isom Miller of Birmingham, AL; Special daughter. LaEsa Yow Washington of Gadsden, AL; Siblings: Eloise Whisenant of Gadsden, AL; Clara Dennis of Detroit, MI; Marilyn (Leroy) Williams of Irondale, AL; Reginald Robinson of Denver, CO and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
