Clifton L. Glover was born to the late, Willie and Carrie Glover on April 25, 1935 in Birmingham, AL. He confessed Christ at an early age and united with the St. Luke A.M.E. Zion Church in East Birmingham. Later, he was a faithful servant of Wilson Chapel Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Ernest Mitchell Jr. He was united in holy matrimony to Patricia A. Glover and this union was blessed with three children, however in the Druid Hill Community he was a father to many.
He was a product of the Birmingham City School system. He volunteered to serve in the military. He served in the U.S. Army for six years.
Clifton affectionately known as “Cliff, Mr. Cliff, Papa Cliff, Uncle and Daddy,” was a man of many attributes. Throughout the course of his life he worked numerous jobs. F.W. Woolworth, L&N Railroad, United Way, YMCA, Canterbury Electrical Company, Redcross, and State Farm insurance.
He started his own cleaning service, and in addition to his job he held various positions for many years.
On Saturday, September 25, 2021, he departed this life at the VA Hospital in Birmingham, AL. He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Carrie Glover, his sisters, Hazel Glover, Glendia Glover, brother, Marvin Glover, grandsons Michael Glover Jr. and Keyon Moore, grandson in law.
His memory will be forever cherished by his loving and devoted wife of 57 years, Patricia. Three sons, Michael Glover of Columbus, Ohio, Wakely (Marilyn) Glover, Kevin, (Vicki) Glover and two daughters, Beverly Avery, and Carolyn Reese, all of Birmingham, AL. Godson, Anthony Cowans. One brother, Cleophus (Florine) Glover of Chicago, Il., and one sister Margarett Glover of Birmingham, AL. 11 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
