Daniel Joseph Carr was born on February 23, 1947, to the late Mr. Joseph DeJarnett (Mary DeJarnett) and late Mrs. Mae Ida Pollard (late Walter Mack Pollard), in Birmingham, AL.

Daniel was a product of Birmingham City Schools and was a graduate of Westfield High School class of 1965. After high school Daniel joined the US Airforce where he was deployed to Vietnam. After returning from Vietnam, he attended Birmingham Southern College where he graduated Magna Cum Laude class of 1979. The he attended Lawson State Community College where he majored in Pre-Law and completed his Law Degree from Miles College class of 1982. After graduating from Miles Daniel joined the U.S. Navy in 1982 and completed his military career retiring in 2002. In 1984 he joined the Birmingham City Police Department. During his tenure he was promoted to Sergeant and later became a Detective for the force. On his days off he worked as a Substitute Teacher in the Hueytown School District. He retired with 20 years of service to his community and city. Danie was a member of the American Legion Post 347 in Fairfield, Alabama and the Fraternal Order of Police (FOP).

He was certified to be a Minister November 19, 2015.

Daniel was united in marriage to the love of his life, Phyllis J. Carr, for twenty-nine years, and was the proud father of two sons, Darren Carr, and Reginald Johnson Jr.; three daughters Angela Kennedy, Nadiua Johnson-Holmes (Tremel), and Daniesha Carr. He adored his seven grandchildren; NaTerrian, RaeKecia, Joshua, Carter (Wally), Kaleb, Cegina, and Brina and three great-grandchildren. He was a faithful husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, exemplifying unconditional love and concern for his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents Joseph DeJarnett, Mae Ida Pollard and Walter Mack Pollard, sisters Mae Lizzie Ellis and Vanessa Pollard.

His memory will always live through: his loving and devoted wife, Phyllis J. Carr; two sons, Darren Carr and Reginald Johnson Jr.; three daughters, Angela Kennedy, Nadiua Johnson-Holmes (Tremel), and Daniesha Carr; brothers Walter Pollard Jr., Robert Davis (Henrietta); sisters, Vickie Robinson (Edward), Bernadette Davis, Beverly Davis, Renita Davis, Carlice DeJarnett, Vernita DeJarnett Lake (Rodney) and mother Mary DeJarnett; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends. He was blessed to have a loving and caring church family, neighbors, and classmates.
