Mrs. Gail P. Harris-Jenkins was born on October 7,1945 to Ms. Mattie Harris and the late Mr. Willie Lewis Dick of Birmingham, Alabama.
She was joined in holy matrimony to Mr. Jimmy Jenkins until she joined her heavenly father,
She was a graduate of Carver High School in Birmingham, Alabama and worked at Carraway Hospital for over 40 years.
Gail confessed Christ at an early age and joined Gaines Chapel A.M.E. church where she remained a faithful member until her death on November 18, 2020. Gail faithfully served as a Steward, Stewardess, Trustee, Church Treasurer, Senior Usher, a member of the Building Fund and Kitchen committee. She was extremely instrumental in the designing, funding and construction of the new church home of Gaines Chapel on the corner of Daniel Payne Drive in July of 2002. Gail’s love of her family transcended into her love of all of God’s people. She spoke with a soft voice that complemented her beautiful smile that brough joy to all that knew her.
Gail was preceded in death by her Siblings: Archieleen Dick, Willie Dick, Linda Mennifield and Debra Leonard.
She leaves to cherish her memories, her husband, Jimmy Ray Jenkins, her loving mother, Ms. Mattie Harris, sister, Anita Dick, brother, Cyrus Dick, uncle, Bobby Harris (Carlean),, nieces, Alonda Pouncey, Erica House & Valencia Smith; Nephews: Wallace Dick (Barbara); Derick Dick (Sheila); Dexter Dick ;all of Birmingham, AL; a beloved cousin, Betty Berry of Palm Coast, FL; one brother in law Rev. Phillip Jenkins (Pearl); one sister in law, Betty Ballard both of Dallas, TX. Her best friends, Yvonne Davis & Louise Richards and a host of relatives and friend.
