James Lenor Smith affectionately known as Jamie was born on March 27, 1965 in Birmingham, Alabama to parents James Smith Jr. and Lillian Boatwright Smith.
Jamie was educated in the Birmingham City School system.
He professed his faith in Christ Jesus and was a baptized believer at First Baptist West Ensley Baptist Church.
Jamie loved his family. He would travel near and far to see them.The holidays were his time to shine. He was the life of the party. He could make a big celebration out of the smallest get together.
In his leisure he enjoyed watching Sci-Fi television shows. He was an avid swimmer. Jamie loved being outdoors on the grill or in the kitchen cooking his signature dishes.
He never met a stranger. Once he met you, you were apart of his family. He had a voice that commanded any room and a laugh that would make you laugh.
He was preceded in death by his grandmother Elizabeth Boatwright, his grandchildren Christian Smith Jr. and AyaMai’ree Carter.
He leaves loving memories with his beloved wife Gretchen, six children, Manuel, James, Brittany, Jamesia, Christian, Joshua. His mother, Lillian Stevenson and father, James Smith Jr. Two sisters, Marian (Rodney) Thomas and Lisa (Floyd) Valentine. Eight grandchildren; Syleena Carter, Aljaveon Allen, Angelo Martin, Bryson Pelt, Alanna Smith, Khylie Steele, Reyna and Marcellus Carter. Three nieces, one nephew and host of family and friends.
