LaTanga Denise Bester Growder, was born on August 10, 1970 in Birmingham, Alabama to the late George and Ella Mae Bester Sr. She was the youngest of three children born to this union. She confessed Christ at an early age. She was a member of Steward Chapel where she was baptized in 1981. She later, joined ACTS Ministries located in Ensley Alabama under Christian experience. She was a faithful servant until her health declined and she could no longer attend.
LaTanga was educated in the Birmingham, City School. She attended Council Elementary, and Jackson Olin High School. She always had a love for children. She went on the further her education, she attended Southern Junior College of business and received her certification in Early Childhood Development.
After receiving her certification, she continued doing what she loved, working with children. She worked for Laidlaw School Transportation Solutions for 15 years transporting special need children to and from school daily.
LaTanga loved being around her family and friends. Everyone loved to be around her. Even though she didn’t have any biological children of her own, she had nieces, nephews, she was a god-mother to many.
She could always make you laugh no matter what if you were happy or sad. She always had a listen ear for everyone and great advice. LaTanga was a selfless person, she was always a very giving and loving person, she would help others, it didn’t matter if you were a friend, family member or stranger. She often would say, when she would meet people she would always like to leave them with something, it could be her cutting up, a smile, or even a kind word. She was someone to know and a person that you would never forget. To know her was to love her.
LaTanga transitioned from this life on Friday June 3, 2022 at St. Vincent Hospital. She was preceded in death by her parents George and Ella Mae Bester Sr, one sister, Jacqueline Bester Jordan.
She leaves to cherish her memories, her brother, George Bester Jr (Tamecia) of Birmingham, Alabama, her favorite nieces Ashley Jordan, caretaker and Katora Bester; Special cousins, Kanesha Prowell, Aja Plump, Paudriciquez Fuller, special aunt, Maggie Prowell, three great newphews, Zayden Parker, Illidan Jordan, Odyn Jordan, god-sons Jeffery Watkins, Abram Watkins; best friend/sister Joyce Watkins; god-daughter Lauryn Evans, and god-brother Barclay Frazier; a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, close friends all of Birmingham, Alabama.
