Obituary

Mose Sellers made a grand entrance into this world on October 15, 1944, to the late Hattie Anthony Sellers and Jessie Sellers in Montgomery, Alabama. Mose joined the Mt. Pleasant A.M.E. Zion Church at an early age under the pastorage of Rev. McCain.

Mose attended George Washington Trenholm Elementary School in the Hunter Station Community. He graduated in 1957. After completing his primary years at Trenholm, Mose was enrolled at George Washington Carver where he completed his secondary education in 1963.

In 1965, Mose started his career with South Central Bell. He excelled in his training and was promoted to the position of lineman; later he was promoted to outside technician. During Hurricane Andrew in 1992, Florida suffered tremendous damage and power outages. Mose worked in Miami for several months to restore service in that area. In 2008, Mose also assisted with the restoration in Galveston, Texas, following the devastation caused by Hurricane Ike.

Mose was an avid baseball player. For many years, he played baseball as a third baseman with the Hunter Station Mets. A diehard Carver Wolverine basketball and football fan, Mose attended all basketball and football games in and out of the city. He also enjoyed tailgating with Alabama State University in both Montgomery and in Birmingham each season. Mose especially enjoyed family gatherings.

Mose was preceded in death by son, Vince "Vanlee" Dawson; his father, Jessie Sellers; his mother, Hattie Sellers; two sisters, Dosha Sellers and Ruby Glenn; brothers, Willie James Howard and Johnny Howard.

Mose leaves to cherish his memories his loving and devoted wife of forty-five years, Beulah Price Sellers; a daughter, Marcia Denise Sellers of Montgomery, AL; two sons, Granada (Amanda) Sellers, of Dallas, Texas, and Fernando Santos Dawson; a grandson, Cameron Dawson of Montgomery, AL, two granddaughters, Simone, and Brianna of Montgomery, AL, Mose is also survived by the following sisters: Estella Sellers (Montgomery, AL), Savannah Sellers (Birmingham, AL), Deloris Terry (Talladega, AL), Brenda Gayle Winston (Birmingham, AL), Lillie (Jerome) Thompson, and Mary Ann (Robert) Johnson, Lorene King, all of Montgomery, AL.
