Queen Wright Obituary

Queen Ester Wright, daughter of the late Lucious and Olivia Jackson was born on August 30, 1929 in Adamsville, Alabama.

Queen joined Mt. Carmel Methodist Church at an early age, where she was an Usher, taught children’s Sunday School and worked diligently on church projects and served faithfully for many years until her health deemed her unable to attend church services.  Queen really loved her church dearly.  Queen was a volunteer after retirement at Princeton Baptist Hospital, Birmingham, Alabama.

Queen was a graduate of Westfield High School and she received her Bachelor’s degree in Education from Miles College and then her Master’s degree at Wayne University in Detroit, Michigan.  Queen was an elementary school teacher for over 30 years.  She taught at a school in Marion County, Edgewater and finished her teaching at Crumley Chapel Elementary School where she retired.

Queen had two children, Jeffery Wright, and Deborah Hadnott, who both preceded her in death.

Queen peacefully departed this life on Monday, August 13, 2018 in the Arlington Rehabilitation Center.

Queen was loved by all her neighborhood where she lived in for over 45 years.  Her beautiful life will be forever cherished in the lives of her grandchildren:  Shaunta Davis (Willie) and Jerome Hadnott, Jr. (Danielle); five great grandchildren, Jerome Hadnott, III, Destiny Tatum, Jada Hadnott, Lyndon Tatum, and Jeremiah Hadnott.  Queen had two brothers that preceded her in death, William Jackson (Arsenia) and Leon Jackson (Catherine).  A sister, Shirley Jolly (James-deceased) of Cleveland, Ohio.  A sister, Carolyn Roscoe (James) of Chicago, Illinois who departed two days after Queen’s death; and a cousin who was more like a sibling, Mary Pyles.  A cherished friend and more like a sister, Louise Willis; eight sisters-in-law, a host of devoted nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
