Raymond Lewis Sims was born on February 9, 1969 to Tiney Beatrice Jones and Albert Lewis Sims, Sr.
Raymond was raised in Birmingham, AL and attended Birmingham City Schools. He was a member of the Mighty West End High School Marching Band where he was on the Drum Line. He also made All City Band with his drumming talent. He graduated with the class of 1988. Following high school, He attended Miles College and Alabama State University.
Raymond confessed Christ under the leadership of Rev. J.M. Lewis of 23rd Street Baptist Church South. Later, he moved his membership to Greater Shiloh Baptist Church, where he served until the Lord called him home.
Raymond was preceded in death by his parents, Tiney Beatrice Jones and Albert Lewis Sims, Sr. and one brother, Albert Lewis Sims, Jr.
He leaves to morn his siblings, Joseph Dean Sims, of Detroit, MI; Mary Ellen Patterson (John) of Chattanooga, TN; Emmanuel Sims (Deirdre) and Willie Sims, of Birmingham, AL a host of nieces and nephews and a special friend, Sandra Toyer and her great-granddaughter Zaria Kidd.
