That which was, is no longer, what is now may seem a mystery, but what is left are everlasting memories of the beauty and faithfulness of a life Mr. Reginald Alfonso Evans, that is now at rest-this is the nature of the things. Let not the pain be our anthem but “the joy of the Lord be our strength.”
Reginald “Reggie” Evans affectionately known as “Pops” was born on March 23, 1958 to the late Alma Lennon and Alfonso Evans at Metropolitan Hospital in New York City. Reggie grew up in New York and had a love for music. He also had a true passion for art, painting, drawing, and creating 3D portraits. Reggie gave his life to Christ in his adult years, at that point he vowed to right his wrongs. Reggie was united with Dorothy Phelps Evans and from this union came five children: Michael (Candice) Evans; Jasper (Andreia) Evans; Selina Simmons, Leslie Simmons, and Shetia Simmons and a host of grandchildren. New York was home for Reggie, however after several visits he decided to move to Alabama. On October 24, 2020 at the age of 62, in the comfort of his home, Reggie finished his course. Although he was up against a fight with cancer, he won the race. “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith: henceforth there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give to me at that day; and not to me only, but also to all them that have loved his appearing.” 2 Timothy 4:7-8
