Ruth (Dunning) Bell

Ruth Dunning Bell was the 13th child born to the late Charlie and Mattie Clark Dunning of Gainesville, AL. Her father, three sisters; Evelyn Moore, Eliza Dunning, Mary Bush and one brother, James Dunning, proceeded her in death.

She accepted Christ as her personal savior and joined the Spring Valley Baptist Church, Gainesville, AL, where she served faithfully in ministry as an usher, choir member, in various programs, teaching, dance, Biblical play writer, etc.

Ruth was educated in the Sumter County School System. She was a 1985 graduate of Livingston High School. She graduated from Trenholm Community College, Montgomery, AL in Cosmetology. She worked as an apprentice in Montgomery, AL, before returning home to start her business in her home town of Gainesville, AL. Ruth was the owner and operator of Ruth Beauty Salon and Everlasting Beauty for over 30 years.

Ruth was married to her high school friend, Arthur James Bell for 22 years. To this union, a son, Dexter CleShawn Bell was born. Ruth and Arthur ministered together. Ruth’s life and ministry impacted many lives across local regions and states. Her love and passion for true worship was her way of life. She operated in the gifts of the Holy Spirit in prophecy, tongues/interpretation of tongues, interpretation of dreams, prophetic teaching, prophetic dance, word of wisdom and knowledge. Her profession as a hair dresser afforded her the opportunity to minister and mentor many women. Ruth was gifted as an interior designer and decorator; she won certificates and cash awards for her skill as a designer. Ruth had a natural flair for fashion.

          Cherishing Ruth’s golden memories are her beloved husband and soul mate, Authur Bell; son, Dexter (Angelica) Bell, one daughter Reshonda (Prentice) Lawson, four grandchildren; Jaden Bell, Brandi Edwards, Morgan and Prentice Lawson, Jr., two step-grands, Nickles and Zander, loving mother, Mattie Dunning; five brothers, Willie, Eddie (Ella), Calvin (Denise), Charlie (Cassandra)Dunning of Montgomery, AL; John (Ernestine) Dunning of Detroit, MI. Five sisters, Dorothy (Tommy) Mahan, Barbara Burrell, Lisa Dunning of Gainesville, AL, Marilyn (Micheal) Hopson of Dallas, GA and Bessie Jackson, Oviedo, FL; a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
