Shelby was born in Conecuh County, Alabama on February 9, 1955 to the late Raymond and Flora Stallworth. She departed this life peacefully on August 2, 2023. She was also preceded in death by grandchildren, Rayvion Ward and Ivy Meeks.
She grew up a military brat, traveling abroad, but always returned home to Alabama. On June 23, 1974, she married James Meeks and from this union, their six children were born.
Shelby dedicated her time to her community and serving on several auxiliaries of First Missionary Baptist Church. Being known as a fun-loving person, she never met a stranger. She served as an Educational Assistant at Kreole Elementary, Montessori Learning Center and Merry-Go-Round before furthering her education at Gulf Coast Community College and University of Southern Mississippi.
She leaves to cherish her memories three daughters Fatima (Reginald), Takisha and Vashti; three sons, Marlon, Jereme and Quincey; seven grandchildren, Keturah, Reginald Jr., Raylon, Jamarcus, Braxton, Shelby and Marlon, Jr. and a host of family and friends.
