Mr. William Royce Brown, Jr. was born on September 5, 1972 to William Royce Brown, Sr. and Mary J. Brown in Indian Head, Maryland.
Royce was an amazing tenor who sang opera, gospel, musical theater, pop and R&B soul music. In 1990, he graduated from, according to US News, one of the top schools in the District of Columbia, Duke Ellington School of the Arts. He also attended the outstanding music camp at Interlochen Center for the Arts as a student in the Voice Department. His higher education began at the NC School for the Arts where he met students who would become lifelong friends and colleagues. Royce later transferred to the prestigious University of Hartford, Hartt School of Music and in 1994 he received his Bachelor of Music Degree in Voice and Opera. Royce shared his gifted voice with audiences all over the United States and even in Japan where he sang the role LittleRichard. Royce was honored to sing with Patti LaBelle and for President G. Bush.
In 2002, he joined New Birth, now known as Refresh Family Church, under the leadership of Bishop Stephen A. Davis. He served as a leader of the Praise Team until he was unable due to sickness.
Royce was preceded in death by his father, William R. Brown, Sr.; his brother, Bobby F. Brown; 5 aunts and 2 uncles.
